Dhokha "Round D Corner" (2022) is a gripping thriller that takes audiences on a rollercoaster ride of suspense and deception. The story revolves around the married couple Saanchi and Yathaarth, whose relationship is on the verge of collapse. Saanchi relentlessly pressures Yathaarth to consult his divorce lawyer as she plans to move to the United Kingdom.
One day, Yathaarth discovers that a notorious terrorist named Haq Riyaz Gul has entered their apartment while Saanchi was alone. Alarmed by the news, he rushes to the scene only to find the Mumbai Police already present. ACP Harishchandra Malik attempts to negotiate with Gul, but all efforts prove futile. Outside the apartment complex, the media seizes the opportunity to sensationalize the hostage situation.
Yathaarth reveals to Malik that Saanchi has recently been diagnosed with delusional disorder, warning that without her prescribed medication, she could pose a greater threat than Gul. Inside the apartment, Saanchi calmly confides in Gul, claiming that Yathaarth is attempting to manipulate her by giving her the wrong medication to drive her insane. She further divulges that once Yathaarth succeeds in his plan, he intends to keep her wealth as a caretaker while continuing an affair with her psychiatrist, Vidya. Angered and frustrated by the situation, Gul instructs Saanchi to remain silent.
During a conversation between Gul and Malik, Saanchi, overhearing their exchange, persuades Gul not to administer her medication, while using her charm to manipulate him. Gul vulnerably confesses to Saanchi that he was unaware the package he delivered to a boys' hostel contained a bomb, resulting in the deaths of 13 people. He reveals that his own uncle from Kashmir betrayed him by substituting the bomb for a regular courier package. Gul, who became the prime suspect due to the evidence against him, was convicted for the tragedy.
Gul subsequently threatens Malik, demanding his demands be met or else he will kill Saanchi. When Yathaarth insists on entering the apartment alone with Malik and the police, a heated argument ensues over the next course of action. Inside the apartment, Saanchi and Gul devise a plan to stage her as a fake hostage in order to escape the clutches of the police. As they put their plan into motion, Saanchi betrays Gul's trust by alerting the police to his empty gun magazine.
However, Gul manages to bring Saanchi back inside the apartment. As time passes, Saanchi's behavior becomes increasingly erratic, questioning Gul about his identity and how he gained access to the apartment. Frustrated, Gul restrains Saanchi to a chair in the living room. It is later revealed that Gul actually gave Saanchi her medication disguised in the tea she consumed earlier.
In a surprising turn of events, Saanchi attempts to seduce Gul, but he has second thoughts during their intimate moment. Saanchi then reveals her belief that all men, including Yathaarth, Gul, and another unnamed person, are inherently the same. Gul experiences another change of heart and disposes of Saanchi's pills, expressing his intention to run away with her.
Meanwhile, Malik and Yathaarth devise a plan for Yathaarth to obtain a ransom of INR 50 lakhs, which will allow them to apprehend Gul and defuse the situation swiftly. As Yathaarth ascends to his apartment with the ransom money, multiple gunshots are heard. Malik and the police rush to the scene, only to discover Saanchi dead in Yathaarth's arms, the shots having been fired at her. Gul falsely proclaims to the police that Yathaarth shot and killed Saanchi instead of him.
During the subsequent court proceedings, Yathaarth claims that upon entering the apartment, Saanchi immediately sought his assistance. Gul shot Saanchi multiple times when she betrayed him once again. According to Gul's testimony, when Yathaarth entered the apartment, both Saanchi and he engaged in a heated verbal altercation. Yathaarth attempted to wrestle the gun away from Gul, resulting in a struggle. Nevertheless, Yathaarth managed to fire multiple shots at Saanchi, even with the gun in Gul's possession.
Malik informs the court that during Gul's custody, he discovered that Gul suffered from delusions, substantiating his claim with medical and psychological reports. The court upholds Gul's previous death sentence, with Saanchi being added to his list of victims. However, due to his diagnosed mental illness, the execution can only proceed once he has received proper treatment.
Later, it is revealed that Yathaarth did indeed give Saanchi the incorrect medication with the assistance of Vidya, with whom he was having an affair. The third person referred to by Saanchi as 'him' was, in fact, Malik, with whom she planned to flee to the United Kingdom to escape Yathaarth. When Malik expressed his desire to stay in India due to his family commitments, Saanchi resorted to blackmailing him with false rape accusations. Consequently, Malik conspired with Gul to orchestrate an escape during a jail transfer, with the aim of killing Saanchi in her apartment. In return, Malik promised to save Gul from the death sentence.
Gul, having never actually killed anyone, gradually loses his sanity and is confined to a mental institution for treatment, where he imagines Saanchi. The complex web of deception reveals that Yathaarth deceived Saanchi, and both Saanchi and Malik deceived Gul, resulting in each character inflicting Dhokha "Round D Corner" (2022) upon the other.
